Radial Shockwave Therapy

Radial shockwave also know as radial pressure wave therapy (RPWT) is used by Physiotherapists and doctors. It is a non surgical therapy that aids pain relief, improves tissue repair and aids injury recovery. It is generally used for chronic conditions.

How Does it work: acoustic waves are absorbed by the injuries tissues. This energy causes the tissue to react in a way that produces a positive effect which helps the body build stronger tissues. This process is called mechanotransduction. Shockwave has also been shown to help the body improve blood flow to the tissues which helps in tissue repair.

Shockwave had demonstrated in the research that when combined with a graded loading programme it can help with chronic tendon problems across the body. These problems are defined as tendinopathy, tendonitis, tendonosis.
